Best Film
At a time when the United States is trying to curry favour with the rest of the world, is there any chance that odds-on favourite Slumdog Millionaire WONT pick up the Best Film award at this years Oscars? Not really if only because none of its rivals is stamped with genuine Oscars quality.
The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button has already caused a surprise by being nominated in 13 categories but its price of 5/1 in a five-horse race is an unappealing proposition. Then theres a big leap to Milk (14/1), Frost/Nixon (25/1) and The Reader (33/1) none of which has the combination of popular appeal and cinematic class that normally characterises a winning film. Its Slumdog Millionaire but at a price too short to back.
